Summary: The Independent Expert reports on the mission to Greece (22 – 27 April 2013). Austerity and other economic adjustment policies are incompatible with the core obligations of each right and the duty of States to use all available resources in an effort to satisfy, as a matter of priority, these minimum obligations. The Independent Expert recommends that Greece preserves sufficient resources to enable it utilize its “maximum available resources” for the realization of all human rights, and devote sufficient resources to close gaps in the social protection system.
