The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights considered the fourth periodic report of Iraq on the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (E/C.12/IRQ/4) at its 62nd and 63rd meetings (see E/C.12/2015/SR.62 and 63), held on 29 and 30 September 2015, and adopted the following concluding observations at its 78th meeting, held on 9 October 2015. A. Introduction 2. The Committee welcomes the fourth periodic report submitted by the State party, the supplementary information provided in the replies to the list of issues (E/C.12/IRQ/Q/4/Add.1) and the oral replies provided by the delegation. B. Positive aspects 3. The Committee welcomes the State party’s ratification of, or accession to, the following international human rights instruments: (a) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in 2013; (b) Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, in July 2011; (c) International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, in November 2010; (d) Optional Protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, and on the involvement of children in armed conflict, in 2008. 4. The Committee notes with appreciation the following legislative and policy measures taken by the State party: (a) Act No. 28 (2012) on combating trafficking in persons; (b) Act No. 8 (2011) on domestic violence in the Kurdistan Region; * Adopted by the Committee at its fifty-sixth session (21 September-9 October 2015).
