Report of the Independent Expert on human rights and
international solidarity on her mission to Morocco*
Note by the Secretariat
The Secretariat has the honour to transmit to the Human Rights Council the report of
the Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity on her mission to
Morocco from 15 to 20 January 2016. The main purpose of the visit was to observe the
impact of the country’s international cooperation activities on the enhancement of human
rights.
The Independent Expert acknowledges and commends the progress of Morocco in
the field of governance and human development and welcomes, in particular, the
recognition of human rights and the importance accorded to solidarity and cooperation in
the Constitution. She recognizes the efforts of Morocco with regard to establishing
participatory sustainable development. She encourages the Government to continue refining
its national development initiatives through a well-integrated approach to development and
cooperation, at both the national and international levels, and more harmonized action
towards the attainment of the new Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
